Homeless Teen Stuns With Performance Of Andra Day's "Rise Up"

Jayna Brown, a 14-year-old homeless Baltimore teen, is going viral for her powerful voice. Brown earned a golden buzzer on America’s Got Talent on Wednesday (July 20), thanks to a goosebump-inducing rendition of Andra Day’s “Rise Up.

Brown emotionally revealed on the show that she and her mother were homeless, but that she was hoping to help support the family. “Right now, finances are a real struggle for me and my mom,” she said. “That’s why I’m trying to do everything I can to pay her back.”

The visibly nervous teen belted out “Rise Up” like a trained pro. Guest judge and One Direction singer, Louis Tomlinson, was so moved by Brown’s performance that he had to hug her. “It’s not just one thing without you,” he explained.  “It’s not just the voice, it’s not just the importance, you have everything and it’s so infectious to watch you perform.”

Steps behind Tomlinson was Brown’s mother ready to embrace her daughter as the crowd stood to its feet. Tomlinson also gave Brown a shout out on Twitter.
