She was cast in the television series Daktari which ran from 1966-1969 as Jenny Jones. Later in the year 1968 together with Debbie Reynolds, she made her feature-film debut in How Sweet It Is. Moran also appeared in the Don Rickles show in the year 2007. In 1974, Moran was all set to play her best-known role on the sitcom Happy Days as Joanie Cunningham.

Erin Moran is in the process of writing a book on her happy days and his acting experience.  She and three of her Happy Days co-stars filed a $10 million breach of contract lawsuit against CBS in April 2011. A year later, they settled the said lawsuit with CBS.

On April 22, 2017, Moran succumbed to stage 4 cancer in Corydon, Indiana.
